With regard to that, I bring back a post (with minor updates) from 2013 that really fits...
I love the 2nd Thursdays of each Month at SLP Celebrate Recovery - why? Because we get to hear what God has accomplished in other people's battles over their Hurts, Habits, and Hang-ups. VICTORY!
This month Teri R, a Founding Member from our own SLP Free Celebrate Recovery group will share her testimony and tell us about the things she has been through and how God has given her hope and victory over her hurts, habits, or hang-ups.
These are the real life stories of real people. Are they always Roses and Teacups - no way. I have seen and heard some of the most painful things that I have ever heard of in my (relatively sheltered) life.
Life is hard - God is Good! it's not a cliche', it's truth!
When people share their battles and victories - well it's sometimes better than the best sermon's I've ever heard.If fact God's been telling me that in the past weeks and showing me in His Word (the Bible). Right in front of me now is the verse from Isaiah 41 - my reminder each day not to let the world beat me:
Isaiah 41: 9-13 NIV 1985
"I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
11 “All who rage against you
will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish.
12 Though you search for your enemies,
you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
will be as nothing at all.
13 For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you."
will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish.
12 Though you search for your enemies,
you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
will be as nothing at all.
13 For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you."
AWESOME!
It's quite a coincidence too (wink-wink, I don't believe in coincidence, but i do believe in a God-incidence!) that my devotional in Our Daily Bread today covered just this same thing - imagine that!
You can see this too at WWW.ODB.ORG
The Apostle Paul summed it up well:
3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:3-6
I pray that you'll get a chance to see this for yourself - come, join us Thursdayat SLP Free! The address is just to the right on this page! If not tonight - the 2nd Thursday of any month. See you there!
God Bless your day!
